Bollywood romantic family drama, Lal Patthar, directed by Sushil Majumdar and written by Prasanta Chaudhary was released on December 31, 1971. The movie starred Raaj Kumar, Hema Malini and Rakhee Gulzxar in lead roles while Vinod Mehra, Paintal, Leela Mishra, Asit Sen, Sadhana Khote and Dulari also played significant characters in the film. The melodious hit music of the movie was composed by the veteran music director duo Shankar Jaikishen while the songs were beautifully crooned by Mohammed rafi, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with Raaj Kumar Bahadur ( Raaj Kumar ), who is a very kind hearted and well cultured guy with no bad habits at all. He meets with a beautiful gril named Saudamani ( Hema Malini ) and instantly falls in love with her. He takes her to his palatial house. Her netry in his life changes everything. He becomes an aloholic and always woos her and even renames her to Madhuri. But he refuse to get married with her as her background has some dark spots.

Years later, he meets with another women named Sunita ( Rakhee Gulzar ), who is exactly half of his age, and falls in love with her. He get married to her and brings her home. But right before her entry in the house, he makes it clear to her that Madhuri’s word is law in his house. He later finds out that Sunita has a childhood friend named Shekhar ( Vinod Mehra ), who has just retruned from abroad. Raaj Kumar reveals that Sunita and Shekhar still have feeling for each other and this make him jealoous of the two.
