The family drama and criminal movie Lorie was released on 6 June 1984.Vijay Talwar directed the movie while Sagar Sarhadi produced the movie with the help of Mahendra Shah ,Mohan and Dev Dutt. The star cast involved Shabana Azmi, Farooq Sheikh and Rohini Hattangadi while Sulbha Deshpande, Swaroop Sampat, Yunus Parvez, Javed Khan, Vikas Anand, Paresh Rawal, Madan Puri and Naseruddin Shah played the supporting roles. Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle gave the music and promoted through Saregama – HMV. Saroj Khan was the choreographer for the movie.

Geeta Malhotra ( Shabana Azmi ) marries a youngster named Bhupinder ( Farooq Sheikh ) against her parent’s will. They live happily as a married couple. After a few months, Geeta discovers that she is pregnant. However, she loses her baby in an accident. She feels desolated and dejected after the mishappening.

One day, while moving in a city bus service she comes across a little boy who is lost behind from his family and relatives. Geeta feels sympathetic towards the child and because she could not bear a child, she decided to take the child with her at her place and loved him like his own child. His husband also does not make any hard efforts against it. However, one-day the child’s parents along with police inspectors approached Geeta and filed a case against her for abduction of the child. The movie deals with the suspense that whether Geeta would be imprisoned n sent to mental asylum or not.
