The romantic and action movie Mard was released on November 8, 1985. The movie was directed by Manmohan Desai and produced by Anil Nagrath. The major roles in the movie were played by Amitabh Bachchan, Dara Singh Randhawa, Amrita Singh and Prem Chopra while the supporting roles were played by Joginder, Bob Christo, Nirupa Roy¸ Seema Deo, Dan Dhanoa and Goga Kapoor. The music of the film was directed by Krish Malik and Anu Malik while the songs were sung by S. Janaki, Mohammad Aziz, Asha Bhosle, Sharon Prabhakar and Shabbir Kumar.

The action cum romantic movie Mard revolved mostly around a man named Raja Azaad Singh ( Dara Singh Randhawa ) who ruled over his area with love and fairness that is why his region progressed. He lived with his wife Durga ( Nirupa Roy ) happily who one day gives birth to a son. The twist in the story comes when Britishers wanted to rule the region. Raja fought with whole might but he along with his wife was made prisoner and made to work in the jail.

Raja and Durga’s son was adopted by a kind woman Jamuna ( Seema Deo ) and her husband. Years passed away, Durga became mute and her son was named by the woman as Raju ( Amitabh Bachchan ) who now drives a horse carriage with the horse named Badal and his faithful dog named Moti. He came across the daughter of Britisher Dr. Harry named Ruby ( Amrita Singh ) and liked her at the very first impression. Now it was the story of Raju’s self pride and family.
