Veteran bollywood actor, Mithun Chakraborty, was born as Gouranga Chakraborty on June 16, 1950 in West Bengal, India. He is married to former indian actress, Yogeeta Bali and has four children. His eldest son, Mimoh, is also working as an actor in the bollywood industry. Mithun did his graduation from Film and Television Institute Of India, Pune. He is a martial arts expert. He made his acting debut in the year 1976 with Mrigyaya for which he won National Film Award for Best Actor category. Mithun first came in limelight after the success of his musical romantic film Disco Dancer.

After giving a series of flop films, he gave another hit in the form of Pyar Jhukta nahi, opposite Padmini Kolhapure. His next film Pyar ka Mandir also did well at the box office. He went on to give back to back hit film such as Wanted, Boxer, Jaal, Commando etc. He won his second National Award for Best Actor for his superb performance in Tahader Katha. He was then playing second fiddle in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Agneepath and won Filmfare Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in the film.

He then turned towards doing some low-budget B-grade movies. later he decided to make a comeback in bollywood movies and starred in a negative role in multistarrer action flick Elaan. But the movie failed to get success at the box office. He won several acclaims for his negative act in Kalpana Lazmi’s Chingari opposite Sushmita Sen. He also played an important role in Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai starrer Guru. His latest released flick Heroes is also performaing well at the box office.
