Mohabbat was a romantic movie released on June 14, 1985. The movie was directed by Bapu and produced by Ashok Thakeria and Indra Kumar. The main roles in the movie were played by Anil Kapoor, Amjad Khan, Vijyeta Pandit and Amrish Puri while the presence of Shakti Kapoor, Aruna Irani, Satish Kaushik, Shobna Khote, Asit Sen and Shammi supported the film. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Amit Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and  Asha Bhosle.

Mohabbat was a romantic film as suggested by its name. The movie revolved mostly around a man named Shekhar ( Anil Kapoor ) who is in love with a girl named Pooja and wanted to marry her at any cost. Pooja was the only daughter of a wealthy man Choudhury ( Amrish Puri ) who loved her a lot and couldn’t see her sad. As soon he came to know that she loved Shekhar, he agrees for her marriage. Shekhar decides to tell his parents to go and ask for the marriage.

Shekhar informs his father and stepmother ( Shobna Khote ) to go to Choudhury’s house to finalize the marriage. But the movie takes a turn when Shekhar’s mother asks Choudhury for a hefty amount in dowry which he couldn’t afford. Choudhury warns them that he will get another man for his daughter if Shekhar don’t agree. Shekhar leaves his house in anger and visits Choudhury’s house to make things better but Choudhury has now decided to marry his daughter to Atmaram ( Shakti Kapoor ).
