Paheli was a fantasy love triangle movie released on June 24, 2005 under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment. The movie has been directed by Amol Palekar and produced by Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan. The main roles in the film were played by Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and Juhi Chawla while the roles of Sunil Shetty and Anupam Kher were equally important. Music of the film was directed by M M Kreem and the songs were sung by Sonu Nigam, Madhushree, Shreya Ghosal and Bela Shende.

The movie Paheli directed by Amol Palejar is the love story between a man, his neglected wife and a ghost. It is a story about a simple and loving girl Lachchi ( Rani Mukherji ) in the world mostly interested in money making. Lachchi is married to a man Kishan ( Shahrukh Khan ) who was so much busy in his money making that he mostly neglected his wife and this is evident from the fact that on the wedding night itself, he left the house for a business deal and that too for five long years. There was a ghost who was madly in love with her and thus took his appearance and entered his house.

The ghost lived with Lachchi as her husband Kishan and shared every moment together. The ghost was completely different from Kishan in attitude and nature. While Kishan was money minded and didn’t have time for Lachchi, the ghost was busy in loving her all time. Sometimes later Kishan returns home and the villagers were puzzled to see the two similar faces in front of each other. Now it was on Lachchi to decide whether she has to live with the loving ghost or her innocent husband Kishan. The ghost wanted to be human but can’t.
