Phaansi Ke Baad was an action thriller that was released on January 25, 1985. The movie was directed as well as produced by Harmesh Malhotra. The major roles in the movie were enacted by Shatrughan Sinha, Amrish Puri, Hema Malini and Ajit while the roles of Shakti Kapoor, Iftekhar and Satyen Kappu were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Anu Malik while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle and Suresh Wadkar.

Phaansi Ke Baad was an action cum thriller film that revolved mostly around a man named Vijay Kumar ( Shatrughan Sinha ) who is a public prosecutor by profession. He is the loyal son of the DIG of Police Surinder Nath ( Ajit ). As a Public Prosecutor Vijay Kumar was very famous and has a reputation of bringing down the crime rate with the highest number of convictions under his name. The movie takes a turn when he gets to convict a famous gangster Abbas Mohamed Riyaz ( Shakti Kapoor ).

Abbas Mohamed was accused of killing an Inspector Bhagwat ( Jagdish Raj ) and Sukhdev Walia ( Satyendra Kapoor ) who was a former gangster. As expected Abbas was tried, held responsible of the murder and thus was given the death punishment. But the actual fact was found by Vijay’s girlfriend, Sapna ( Hema Malini ) who told him that the murders were committed by someone else and not Abas. Vijay then tried his best to save him and find the real killers.
