Hit songs of Raavan


Raavan was a family drama movie released on 28 September 1984. Johnny Bakshi directed as well as produced the movie. The star cast of the movie involved Gulshan Arora, Vikram, Smita Patil and Om Puri while Vikas Anand, Ketan Anand and Manmouji played the supporting roles. Jagjit Singh ,Chitra Singh, Bhupinder Singh and Vinod Sehgal sang the songs for the movie and Jagjit Singh and Chitra gave the music as well. Sudarshan gave the lyrics for the songs.

Bhagat Gita, the holy book of Hindus visibly states that Lord Indra assumed the human form of Lord Ram to end the rule of Demon King Raavan. In remembrance of Lord Ram’s victory and as a symbol of Good’s conquest over evil, people until today celebrate dussehra. On this day, all human beings burn crackers and burn huge idols of Lord Raavan, his son, Meghnath, and his brother, Khumbkaran.

However, in the distant village of Agar, the villagers gather on Dussehra to burn the idols of Meghnath and Khumbkaran only and let Lord Raavan’s idol stand-alone unburnt. An aged villager explains this distinct custom to an acquainted new reporter .He informs the villager about Ganga ( Smita Patil ) who was in love with a brutal man ,Raavan ( Gulshan Arora ) .He told about how Ganga changed him into a kind man whom he compares with Lord Ram.
