Former bollywood actress, Rakhee Gulzar, was born on August 15, 1947. She is married to famous poet and lyricist Gulzar. She began her acting career with a Bengali film Badhu Baran in the year 1967. She then starred in her first bollywood flick titled Jeevan Mrityu opposite Dharmendra. The film did well at the box office and she also won acclaims for her performance in the film. Her next film Sharmilee in which she starred opposite Shashi Kapoor went on to became a huge hit. The success of the movie established Rakhee as the successful actress of bollywood industry.

She did some flop movies as well in the form of Lal Patthar, Pagli, Paaras, Aan baan etc. She delievered another hit film in the form of Dev Anand starrer Heera Panna. She won several accliams and Filmfare Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in 1973 released Daag. Her next big hit came opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Kabhie Kabhie. She then went on to do several hit films alongwith Amitabh including Kasme Vaade, Trishul and Muqaddar Ka Sikander.

She then moved towards playing supporting roles in the films like Shaan, Laawaris, Shakti etc. She also made an image of elderly mother in films like Ram Lakhan, Baazigar, Karan Arjun etc. Her last film was Shubho Muhurat for which she won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.
