The romantic comedy Saajan Chale Sasural was released on April 12, 1996. The producer of the movie was Mansoor Ahmed Siddiqui and the movie was directed by David Dhawan. The lead roles were played by Govinda, Karishma Kapoor and Tabu while Satish Kaushik, Kader Khan and David Dhawan played some interesting roles. The music of the movie was given by Nadeem Saifee and Shravan Kumar. The singers were Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik and Poornima.

The story opens with Shammu ( Govinda ) a musician and singer coming to city to make a name for himself. He meets Mutthu ( Satish Kaushik ) who too was a music lover. Thus both become friends and together started searching for an opportunity. They try to impress Divya ( Tabu ), daughter of the owner of Tips industry named Khurana ( Kader Khan ). Initially she misbehaves with Shammu but later impressed by his simplicity provides him with a chance to show his talent.

Shammu becomes renowned and rich. He goes to his village to meet his love Pooja ( Karishma Kapoor ) who was his only inspiration for music. Shammu comes to know that Pooja died in floods thus comes back and marries Divya. He accidentally meets Pooja in a hospital and doctor advises him to give her all happiness. He marries her also. Thus it’s a funny tale of a husband sandwiched between two wives.
