Saawan Ko Aane Do was a romantic family drama movie, released in 1979 under the banner of Rajshri Productions Pvt Ltd. Tarachand Barjatya produced and Kanak Mishra directed the movie. The star cast of the movie involved Arun Govil, Zarina Wahab and Reeta Bhaduri while Roopesh Kumar, Jankidas, Amrish Puri and Pinchoo Kapoor played the supporting roles. Vijay Yesudas and Anand Kumar sang the songs while Raj Kamal gave the music for the movie.

Birju ( Arun Govil ) a poor fellow resides in a petite village and is fond of singing. Chandrika ( Zarina Wahab ) , Zamindar ‘s daughter return form city after completing her studies and is stunned by Birju’s voice. She motivates him to earn his living through singing. Eventually both fall in love. When her father comes to know about the matter, he asks Chandrika to go back to the city and warns Birju to dare not think of her. Overwhelmed Birju visits the city.

In the city, he comes across Gitanjali ( Reeta Bhaduri ), who is impressed by his voice. She encourages him towards his singing career and helps him in getting through his audition. Soon Birju succeeds in getting a job at the radio station. He works wholeheartedly and becomes wealthy and popular in not much time. Meanwhile, Chandrika’s proud dad ( Amrish Puri ) has lost a vital court case and subsequently lost all his riches, but his pride remains intact. When Birju returns to marry Chandrika, he is again humiliated. Will Birju marry Chandrika or Gitanjali?
