Salaam Memsaab was a comical drama movie released in 1979 under the production company Roshan Films. V D Karla produced and Asrani directed the movie. The lead cast of the movie involved Asrani and Zarina Wahab while Rehman ,Yogita Bali ,Sunil Dutt ,Rishi Kapoor and Keshto Mukherjee played the supporting roles. Kishore Kumar and Asrani sang the songs while R D Burman gave the music for the movie.

Sunder ( Asrani ) and Radha ( Zarina Wahab ) along with an adolescent ( Master Jeetu ) are poor fellows who fill their stomachs by singing and entertaining the passersby on the streets .They mostly spend their time at the posh area near the Taj Mahal or the Intercontinental Hotel opposite to Gateway of India in Bombay. Radha is content with her life and does not expect or wish too much. Contrary to this, Sunder happens to be a daydreamer.

Sunder wishes to be wealthy and popular that too as easily as possible. Soon, his dreams come true but only short lived. He wins a free of cost week’s stay at a five star hotel .During his stay, he befriends a rich and famous beneficiary. Sunder now called himself as Majrooh Sultanpuri. The beneficiary also helps him in launching two of his songs in the market .But, fate has decided something else for him as he fails to continue this profession.
