The social drama Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro was released in the year of 1990 under the banner of N F D C. The movie was directed by Saeed Akhtar Mirza and featured Pawan Malhotra, Vikram Gokhale, Nishigandha Wad and Ashutosh Gowarikar in the lead roles while the roles of Makrand Deshpande, Neelima Azim, Surekha Sikri, Achyut Potdar and Mushtaq Khan and Rajendra Gupta were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Amit Kumar, Alka Yagnik and Mohammad Aziz.

As the name of the title suggest, the movie Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro was a social offbeat film that gives an insight of the daily lives of the people. The story of the move revolves around Salim ( Pawan Malhotra ) who has been born lame from birth. Salim lives with his mother, father ( Vikram Gokhale ) and sister in a small house. His sister is old enough to get married soon. He and his father were in search of a right and good groom for Salim’s sister.

Salim and his father’s search ends on Aslam ( Rajendra Gupta ). But Aslam was not liked by Salim as according to him, Aslam was not earning enough to carry an extra burden. Aslam had a better qualification but was not making enough money as compared to it. Salim meets with some gangsters, who promise him that they will make him rich soon. All he has to do is produce religious riots by pitting Hindus against Muslims and vice versa. This was a good opportunity for Salim to cash in.
