Dharmendra, Jeetendra and Zeenat Aman starrer action packed thriller, Samrat, was released in the year 1982. The movie was directed by Mohan Sehgal. The other starcast of the movie includes Hema Malini, Usha Kiran, Kadar Khan, Om Shivpuri, Satyendra Kapoor, Moolchand, Shashikala and Shreeram Lagoo in important roles. The melodious music of the movie was given by the well known music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs were beautifully sung by Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, Manna Dey and Asha Bhonsle.

Captain Chawla ( Om Shivpuri ) is working in a cargo shipping company run by Ranbir ( Amjad Khan ). Chawla witnesses the death of a officer, Gomes ( Shreeram Lagoo ) by a sailor. He get shocked when a bomblast happen on the ship named ‘Samrat’ as a result of which the ship sinks. Ranbir files a complaint against Chawla in the police station that he is actually smuggling gold bars. Chawla is arrested by police and is held in prison. Chawla tries to prove his innocence in court but fails and he is sentenced to prison for a long term.

Chawla’s daughter, Suman ( Zeenat Aman ) returns to India after learning about her father’s arrest. Suman then decides to prove her father innocence on her own. She seeks help from two people named Ram ( Dharmendra ) and Raju ( Jeetendra ) but they refuse to help her. Suman then seduces Raju and manage to convince him to help her. Raju then convinces Ram to accompany him in the job.
