Bollywood family drama, Sansar, starring Raj Babbar and Rekha in lead roles was released on April 3, 1987. The movie was directed by Rama Rao Tatineni. The other starcast of the film includes Anupam Kher, Aruna Irani, Shekhar Suman, Archana Joglekar, Seema Deo, Shafi Inamdar, Dinesh Hingoo and Chandrashekar in important roles. The hit music of the film was given by none other than veteran music director duo, Laxmikant Pyarelal, while the songs were sung by Suresh Wadkar, S. P. Balasubramaniam, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Anuradha Paudwal. The movie was loved by audience and it went on do good business at the box office.

The movie starts with Din Dayal Sharma ( Anupam Kher ), who is working as a head clerk in a goverment firm. He lives with his wife, Godavari ( Seema Deo ), and his three sons, Vijay ( Raj Babbar ), Shiva and Vidyasagar and a daughter named Rajni ( Archana Joglekar ). Uma ( Rekha ) is married to Vijay and living in the same house. This a typical middle class family in which all the three working males contribute for living. vijay being a charted accountant contributes the most. Raji marries a christian guy named Peter Fernandes ( Shekhar Suman ) and relocates to his house.

Shiva also get married with a women named Vasanti ( Priyanka ). The entire family is overjoyed with the news of Uma’s pregnancy. uma leaves to live with her parents for sometime. This proved out to be the biggest mistake committed by Uma as when she returns, she finds everything changed. Her husband has divided the house in two portions, Vasanti has left Shiva, Rajni is also desiring to get divorced from Peter. Now Uma decides to reunite her family once again like before and how she does it is the exciting and enjoyable part of the movie.
