Bollywood family drama, Satyakam, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Bimal Dutta was released in the year 1969. The movie starred Dharmendra and Sharmila Tagore in lead roles while Sanjeev Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Robi Ghosh, Dina Pathak, Rajan Haksar, David Abraham and Sarika also played significant characters in the film. The hit evergreen melodious music of the movie was directed by the well known veteran music director Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Mahendra Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Satyapriya Acharya ( Dharmendra ), who is living a happy life alongwith his grandfather, Satyasharan ( Ashok Kumar ). He is studying in a college and has a very close friend in the form of Narendra Sharma ( Sanjeev Kumar ). After completing their studies, both friends gets seperated. Satyapriya gets employment in United Paper Mill. He is asked to do some illegal work in the mill and in protest he resigns from his job. He then get married to a girl named Ranjana ( Sharmila Tagore ) much to the chargein of his grandfather.

Ranjana gives birth to a child but Satyapriya is still unemployed as he can’t stand for corruption at all. Then he meets with his friend, Narendra ask Satyapriya to compromise with the situations. But Satyapriya’s soul does not allow him to compromise with situations and he refuse to accept this. What will he do now? Whether he will be able to survive in this corrupt world with his values.
