Former bollywood actor, Shashi Kapoor, was born as Balbir Raj Kapoor on March 18, 1938 in Calcutta, India. He is a member of renowned Kapoor family of Indian Film industry. He is the younger brother of veteran actors Late Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. He started his acting career in a very young age by acting in some of his big brother Raj Kapoor’s films.

He began his career as a lead hero with Yash Chopra’s Dharamputra. Thereafter he appeared in many bollywood movies such as Waqt, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Aamne Saamne, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Sharmilee etc. His first big hit came in the form of 1974 released Chor Machaye Shor. After that he played second fiddle in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Deewar. He was equally appreciated by the audience besides Big B for his act in the movie. He even won the Filfare Best Supporting Actor Award for the film.

Later he starred in many films alongwith Amitabh Bachchan such as Kabhi Kabhie, Trishul, Kaala Patthar, Shaan, Suhaag etc. He also produced some critically acclaimed films like Utsav, Ajooba etc. But none of the film produced by him managed to do well at the box office.
