The romantic thriller Shikhar was released on December 30, 2005 under the banner of Cinematt Pictures Pvt. Ltd. The movie was directed and produced by John Mathew Matthan. The top roles in the movie were enacted by Ajay Devgan, Shahid Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Amrita Rao. There were also some special appearances by John Abraham and Akhilendra Mishra. Music of the film was directed by Viju Shah and the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Alka Yagnik, Jagjit Singh and K K.

The story of the movie Shikhar is about Gaurav Gupta ( Ajay Devgan ) whose prime ambition is to build a city where he will rule. He dreams big and lives his life the way he wants to. He don’t like losing and and what mattes the most to him is his ambitions and winning. Jaidev Vardhan ( Shahid Kapoor ) is a man of principles what his father taught him. The simple guy fell in Gaurav’s trap but now wants to change. Natasha ( Bipasha Basu ) loves Gaurav deeply and will do anything for him and this is why she is ready to lure Jai on Gaurav’s request.

Madhavi ( Amrita Rao ) is Jai’s childhood friend from the ashram who even warned him before he was caught in Gaurav’s web, but now she has to stand along with him. Gaurav Gupta aka GG is a winner and can be an example to everyone. He had nothing in the beginning but now values money more than anything else. On the other hand, Guruji ( Jawed Sheikh ) feels that no one should run after materialistic things. Struck between GG and Guruji, Jai found himself caught in the web designed by GG. Jai was then lured by Natasha  so that GG can occupy the land easily.
