Sindoor was a family drama released on August 14, 1987. The movie was directed by K Ravi Shankar and produced by H Krishnamurthy. The key roles in the movie were enacted by Shashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Jaya Prada and Jeetendra while the roles of Govinda, Neelam Kothari, Shakti Kapoor, Kader Khan and Gulshan Grover were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Mohammad Aziz, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Lata Mangeshkar, Suresh Wadkar, Kishore Kumar and Hariharan.

The male lead role in the film was enacted by Rishi Kapoor who debuted with the famous movie Mera Naam Joker that was released in 1970. He played the role of child actor in this movie. He has also directed and produced the movie Aa Ab Laut Chalen. The female lead was played by Jaya Prada who acted in movies like Lok Parlok released in 1979, Aaj Ka Arjun released in 1990 while her first film as an actress was Apna Desh released in 1972.
