Former beautiful bollywood actress, Sonam or Bakhtawar Murad, was born on September 2, 1972 in India. She started off her acting career with Yash Chopra’s 1988 released film Vijay. Her next flm came in the form of Jackie Shrauff starrer Aakhri Adalat. But she first came into limelight after working in 1989 released action thriller Tridev. She worked opposite stars like Sunny Deol, Naseeruddn Shah and Madhuri Dixit in the film. She became the ‘oye oye’ girl after the supersuccess of this particular song of the film. She was then seen in a movie titled Mitti Aur Sona in which she shared screen space with Chunkey Pandey.

After that she worked in some flop films like Sachai Ki Taqat, Gola Barood etc. He gave a notable performance in Raj Babbar starrer Hum Bhi Insaan Hain. She played the love interest of Rishi Kapoor in Amitabh Bachchan starrer fantasy flick Ajooba. She looked quite beautiful in the role of a ’sehzaadi’ in the film. She also gave some lip kiss scenes with Rishi Kapoor in the film. Then she deleivered two back to back flop films in the form of Fateh and Do Matwaale. In both these films, she co starred mach man Sanjay Dutt.

Later she worked in another action thriller titled Vishwatma and won acclaims for her performance in the film. Her last film, Insaniyat, was released in the year 1994. She shocked everyone after getting married to director, Rajiv Rai, who had directed her in Tridev and Vishwatma, at the age of just 19 years. She is currently residing in Uk with her husband and one child. Her cousin, Sanobar Kabir, is also working hard to establish herself in bollywood industry.
