Teri Payal Meree Geet was a romantic movie released in the year 1993, under the banner of Veetrag Films Legends. The movie was directed by Rehman Naushad. The main roles in the movie were played by Govinda, Meenakshi Sheshadri and Naveen Nischal and some appreciable roles were played by Beena, Johny Lever, Shakti Kapoor. The music of the movie was given by Naushad Ali and the singers were Hariharan, Lata Mangeshkar and S P Balasubramnium.

The movie starts with Premi ( Govinda ) who is a poet and earns his living by selling poems. He fells in love with a prostitute named Laila Jaan ( Meenakshi Sheshadri ) and was impressed by her at first glance. At first he was unaware of her profession, but this doesn’t make any difference to him as he was truly in love with her. He went to his place where she used to sing and dance, and is shocked to find out that she is singing his own poem. Premi gets himself employed at her place as he wanted to be with her always.

Premi finds out that she thinks herself superior to married women, as their husbands come to her for sexual pleasures. One day she went to sing and dance on the wedding of a Thakur’s son and stunned to find out that women of her kind have no respect in the society. This frustrated her and she is ready to give up her profession as a prostitute. She spent the same night with somebody and is found missing in the morning, On the other hand Premi was also not there. Thakur sends his men to trace them. Will she be able to live a happy life with Premi?
