Vardi was an action crime movie released on January 6, 1989. The movie was directed by Umesh Mehra and produced by Ali Morani and Bunty Soorma. The actors in the lead roles were Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit and Kimi Katkar while the roles of Anjana Mumtaz, Vinod Mehra, Kader Khan, Raza Murad and Tom Alter were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Anu Malik, Anandji and Kalyanji Veerji while the songs were sung by Sadhana Sargam, Anu Malik, Asha Bhosle, Shabbir Kumar, Kumar Sanu and Amit Kumar.

Vardi was an action cum crime drama that revolved mostly around a notorious bandit named Lalchand ( Kader Khan ) who is arrested by Inspector Verma ( Vinod Mehra ) one day and this is why he wanted to take revenge from him. Lalchand does exactly what he wanted to by abducting Inspector verma’s only son Anil at a very young age and later announcing him that he has killed his son. Verma indulges in a fight with Lalchand and in this process Havaldar Bhagwan Singh ( Dharmendra ) loses his life while saving Verma.

Bhagwan’s son became alone until one day Verma and his wife Shanti ( Anjana Mumtaz ) decided to adopt his son and bring him up as their own. Years passed and Bhagwan’s son Ajay ( Sunny Deol ) has grown up and have become an Inspector as well. Verma is also now the Commissioner. Lalchand is now a criminal of international standards, and this made Verma and Ajay to unite to take revenge from Lalchand.
