Viruddh was a family drama released on July 22, 2005 under the banners of Satyajeet Movies Pvt Ltd and A B Corp. The movie was directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and includes the actors in lead roles as Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham and Sharmila Tagore while the roles of Prem Chopra, Anousha Dandekar and Sharat Saxena were also significant. Music of the film was directed by Bhavdeep Jaipurwale and the songs were sung by Abida Parveen, Ajit Parab, Roop Kumar Rathod and Jagjit Singh.

The movie Viruddh can be remembered as the dominating performance by the Bollywood Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan. His performance in the movie is so influential that he carried the movie single handedly. He portrayed the role of a person who challenged the ill system. The story of the movie revolves around two aged parents Vidyadhar Patwardhan ( Amitabh Bachchan ) and Sumitra ( Sharmila Tagore ) who were searching for their lost faiths in the humanity after the death of their only son Amar Patwardhan ( John Abraham ).

Amar witnessed a criminal activity and thus lost his life when he tried to intervene in the proceedings. His parents were much depressed about the incident but now wanted the correct justice for his death ad thus faced the hardest time of their entire life in order to get the justice. Amar had his half-foreign girlfriend Jenny ( Anousha Dandekar ) and once came with her in his home. The movie with its subject and the dominating performance of Amitabh Bachchan leaves a good impact on the audience and teaches that one should stand up for his rights.
