Sanjeev Kumar and Shabana Azmi starrer action crime drama, Vishwasghaat, was released in the year 1977. The movie was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and written by Satyadev Dubey. The other starcast of the movie includes Madan Puri, Kabeer Bedi, Haroon Khan, Jagdeep, Satyendra Kapoor, Sharat Saxena, Dina Pathak, Mac Mohan and Padma Khanna in important roles. The evergreen hit music of the movie was directed by none other than well known music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were crooned by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Mahesh ( Sanjeev Kumar ) returns to India after spending few years in abroad. He returns alongwith a beautiful girl named Seema ( Shabana Azmi ), whom he plans to get married soon. He is welcomed by his father, King ( Sanjeev Kumar ) on Aiport. Both his father and mother, Saroj ( Dina Pathak ) gives their nod for Seema. They then starts preparing for the marraige of Mahesh and Seema. But there is problem in their marraige as Seema wants Mahesh to not to be dependent on his wealthy father. She wants him to make a living for himself.

Mahesh decides to fullfill Seema’s wish and starts looking for a decent job. But he get shocked to reveal that everyone wants him to work for them. His father’s popularity becomes a big problem for him. Then a guy named uday ( Kabir Bedi ) tells him the truth behind his father’s success. He also tells some unknown truths of Mahesh’s father to him that will surely lead to a split in the father-son relationship.
