The movie Welcome to Sajjanpur is going to release on September 19, 2008 under the banner of UTV Spot Boy. The movie is being directed by Shyam Benegal and produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Zarina Mehta. The actors who performed the lead roles in the movie are Shreyas Talpade, Ravi Kishan, Amrita Rao and Ila Arun while the roles of Divya Dutta and Yashpal Sharma are also important. Music of the film has been directed by Shantanu Moitra and the songs are sung by Krishna Kumar, Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal and Sonu Nigam.

Shyam Benegal is going to screen his one of the movies at the upcoming film festival on October 25th and 26th. London Film Festival is all set to welcome the famous director offering his latest flick “Welcome to Sajjanpur”. The film provides an overview of the modern life of the rural India. While the London Film Festival will take place from 15th to 30th October, the movie will be screened on 25th and 26th. The movie displays how fast the times have changed that even the rural village of India is getting modern day by day.

The story of the movie revolves around Mahadev ( Shreyas Talpade ) who is one of the few educated people of his village Sajjanpur. He is a gifted man with flair for words and thus wants to be a novelist. He is then required to earn living by writing letters at the post office. His great writing skills make him popular in the village and especially among the illiterate people of the village. Mahadev tries to use his skills to entertain people but sometimes also produces the adverse results. The movie displays some harsh and some beautiful aspects of the rural India.
