Zameen Aasman was a family drama movie, released on June 1, 1984 under the banner Film Group. Subhash Gupta and Uday N Singh produced the movie while Bharat Rangachary directed the movie. The star cast of the movie included Shashi Kapoor, Rekha, Sanjay Dutt and Anita Raaj while Rakhee, Mazhar Khan, Satyen Kappu and Kalpana Iyer played the supporting roles. Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle sang the songs and R D Burman gave the music for the movie.

Sanjay ( Sanjay Dutt ) and Anita ( Anita Raaj ) initially hate each other. However, soon both of them start enjoying each other’s companionship and eventually fall in love. Anita came to the place to enjoy her holidays and would soon be returning to Bombay. Before she departs, Sanjay meets her aunt Kanchan ( Rekha ) whose impressed by Sanjay.She takes the movie to a flashback, when she met Dr. Kailash Goyal ( Shashi Kapoor ) and their friendship which almost ended after his marriage with someone else. Anita developed feelings for Kailash during their span of friendship.

Dr. Kailash Goyal is later revealed to be Sanjay’s father who passed away few years back. Kanchan’s stepbrother was blackmailing Sanjay’s mother, Kavita ( Rakhee ).Kavita noticed her son’s emotions for Anita and permitted him to travel to Bombay.Everthing plays fine until Kavita visits Anita’s father’s house to converse the proposal and he refuses, as he doesn’t believe that Sanjay is her son. Another flashback explains why he thinks so.Disapponted by her father’s refusal, both of them plan to elope and get marry.
