Homage to the legendary Sachin Dev Burman


An official at Agartala has announced that the Films Division is going to make a film on the life of Sachin Dev Burman, the legendary music maestro. Information regarding this decision has been sent to the government of Tripura via a letter by the Film Division’s Director of Eastern Regional Centre. The Tripura government has appreciated this move and Anil Sarkar, Information and Cultural Affairs Minister of Tripura, has said that the state government will co-operate and give all support possible to the Films Division.
As heard, the proposed movie will be directed by Dilip Roy who is a renowned Bengali actor cum director. The cast and crew of the movie are not yet known but it is sure that it will be revealed soon. Moreover, who will play the character of S.D.Burman is going to be interesting.

Last year, on the 101st birth anniversary of S.D.Burman, a postage stamp was brought out in his memory by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The government of Tripura has even introduced Sachin Dev Burman Memorial Award in 2006. This prestigious award is presented to famous singers and musicians who have contributed to the Indian cinema.

Sachin Dev Burman was born on 1st October, 1906 in Comilla’s Chortha village which is 84km south of Dhaka (presently in Bangaldesh). S.D.Burman was among the noted Bengali Singers and Bollywood music composers. Rahul Dev Burman, son of S.D.Burman, also made his presence felt in the bollywood as a music director.

Who can forget the name of S.D.Burman? The name which will always remain as an integral part of Indian Cinema forever; the name which contributed a lot to the Indian Cinema
His compositions are still fresh in the minds of the millions of fans who can’t forget this legendary music composer.
