Little would have been expected by veteran actor Om Puri that his long times wish of starring in a sequel to a 1983 movie which epitomized comedy, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, would come true. News is, that one of the best talents in Bollywood . Om Puri would be starring in the sequel to the movie which made Kundan Shah a household name. it has been twenty four years since Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron was released, and Om Puri himself admits that this won’t be an easy task.

Om Puri, who was currently busy with the shooting of Luck Charm, the work on which is in full action in Toronto, Canada, which is directed by another ace director Aziz Mirza, said that it won’t be an easy task recreating the ambience of the movie, and also said that the title was not final and might be changed if necessary. But for all his fans out there, this might not be too good of a news, as he admitted that he has signed on to do the project Lucky Charm only so he could work with the director Aziz Mirza, even though he has a role which is not too long in terms of screen time. The actor said that he did not even read the script before doing the film, as it was ‘incentive enough’ to be doing a movie with a director of the likes of Aziz Mirza. He admitted that he was desperate to work with him.

With the recent spate of super hits which were remade but fell flat on their faces, Umrao Jaan, Sholay and Victoria No. 203 being the cases in point, it will be a daunting challenge for the new team to work on another masterpiece, and live up to it’s glory. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron remains one of the best cult classics that Bollywood churned out. And nothing but a great script will help the sequel live up to the expectations. But with the presence of an actor of such mettle, Om Puri’s presence will speak for the fact that the movie won’t just be another run of the mill remake. We wish the team all the best for the venture!
