Jagjit Singh, born on February 8, 1941 is one of the most renowned Ghazal singer of bollywood industry. He is basically belons to Rajasthan, India. Jagjit Singh refused to fullfil the wish of his late father who wanted him to join the Indian Administrative Service, and entered in the world of music. He did post graduation in the subject of history from Kurukshetra University, Haryana.

He learnt music under Pandit Chaganlal Sharma and then Ustaad Jamaal Khan. In 1976, his first album The Unforgettables On HMV LP Records was introduced in market. He also rendered many songs alongwith her wife Chitra and ‘Someone Somewhere’ was the last album in which they sung together. Jagjit Singh’s first hit album came in the form of Sajda in which he sung Ghazals with none other than veteran Lata Mangeshkar.

Later he also tried his hands as playback singer in bollywood films too. He sang songs for the films like Arth, Saath Saath etc. But his best came in the flicks like Dushman, Sarfarosh and Tum Bin. Besides ghazals, he has also sung Bhajans. His Hey ram…hey raam is quite popular among the people. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year 2003 from the Government of India.
