John Abraham is at a very crucial juncture in his career and every steps he takes needs to be the correct one. Saying no to a producer like Karan Johar would not be amongst that but that is exactly what he has done. He was asked to play the role of Ed Harris in the Indian version of the movie Stepmom. Kajol and Kareena Kapoor will play the lead roles in the movie and there is no denying that.

The reason for john opting out was clear. It will be a woman centric film and his character will always be secondary to the plot. Even though Karan told him that he would have more screen time than what Ed Harris had in the original movie, John was in no mood to give the nod. Karan gave him his first big banner flick in the form of Kaal.

Karan is also the producer of Dostana, which is until date the biggest hit of his career by far. Saying no to Karan might have been tough but he might have in the end taken the right decision. Arjun Rampal has expressed his desire to play the part but it is not known whether Karan has contacted him. John in the meantime is sharpening his acting skills for his future projects. He will be having his movie New York releasing this year.

Karan has almost finalized the caste but he is yet to officially receive the rights for the movie. He is in talks and is very keen to make the movie. He has refrained from making any comments until the he is granted the rights of a remake officially.
