Karan Johar and Yashraj part ways
For the first time ever it has been formally announced that Yashraj banner will not be distributing the movies made under the banner of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Karan was quick to come out and clarify saying that it was a conscious decision on the part of the Yashraj camp that from now on they will be distributing only the home production. Not that they consider Karan someone who is not a part of the family. Karan says that there are no hard feelings and that he respects the decision that they have made.
Karan has now forms a new alliance with UTV productions. Karan chose them as he was impresses by the way they promoted the offbeat movies like Aamir, A Wednesday and Welcome To Sajjanpaur last year. He said that the two movies he for which he has sold the distribution rights are also off beat movies and not the typical movies made under the banner of Dharma Productions.
The rights for the movie were sold for an amount of 80 crores. One of the movies is titled Whats up Sid with Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma playing the lead roles. Rensil D’Silva will make the other movie. Karan is confident that they will do justice to the movies.
Karan Johar also impressed UTV. They said that despite being right up there he has no attitude and has his foot firmly on the ground, which is a quality you rarely see these days. They also commented on his ability to quickly sense the taste of the audiences and do work accordingly. Hope this new business alliance will be good for the audiences.
