Karan Johar was in for a scare and shock when his latest production Wake Up Sid was stopped from getting screens at two theatres in Mumbai. The things were all set to get much worse and it did when he received a call from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena activists who clearly were very angry and furious with the movie as in it the makers has made use of the word Bombay instead of Mumbai.

Now how does Karan respond to this act of vandalism he goes up to the house of MNS chief Raj Thackeray at his Shivaji Park residence and he offers him an apology saying that he realizes the mistake he has made. After the Raj Thackeray delivered, a message to the media saying that mistakes like this would not be tolerated and he had accepted the apology offered by Karan.

Karan promised him that he would be adding a public apology at the beginning of the movie in every print saying that using the word Bombay was a mistake. Now that is a clear act of killing freedom of speech and creativity in movies. What problem could have been caused by one word Bombay? It was used in tha past and so what if it comes back up and is used in a movie.

Raj wanted the scene removed but Karan explained that it would not be possible to remove it as there were 700 prints distributed around the world and that is when they came up with the idea of adding an apology.
