All the close ones and fans of Lisa Ray were in for a shock when she made revealed that in a recent medical examination she was diagnosed with cancer. She was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. It is a cancer, which was something to do with the plasma cells. With the current technology, it can be treated but still there is no cure for it. The first phase of her treatment has already got on the way on 3 July after the diagnosis was made on 23 June.

She said that even though she was an actress and can get very dramatic at times but when she came to know what was happening in her body she was in fact relieved. She did not cry or anything like that. All this time she used to get tired quickly and she would feel exhausted as if all the energy was squeezed out of her body. The average age of people getting this form of cancer if 65 however, in her case it happens that she got it at the age of 37.

She is hopeful that with treatment technologies like Velcade and Revlimid were being developed that this form of cancer might become curable in the near future, that is the hope she has, and the realist in her is ready to fight until then. The actress first came into the limelight after the performance she put in the movie Kasoor opposite Aftab Shivdasani.She also put in a critically acclaimed performance in the movie Water opposite John Abraham. The movie was directed with Deepa Mehta.
