Masumeh Makhija is back with Dus Kahaniyaan
Masumeh, who won rave reviews for her performance in ace director Vishal Bhardwaj’s Maqbool, is back. Having acted in movies like Chupke Se, and Laloo Prasad Yadav, both of which were non-starters at the Box Office, she is all set to leave a mark once again, because her first release after a long sabbatical will be with her first director himself, Vishal Bharadwaj. Masumeh is keenly looking forward to the release of Dus Kahaniyaan, a film directed by Sanjay Gupta, who has delivered action packed thrillers like Kaante in the past. Dus Kahaniyaan, as the name suggests is a film which will have a compilation of ten different stories, each of them dealing with relationships.
Masumeh would be seen in one of these ten stories. The story in which she’ll be seen is titled ‘High on the highway’, and this particular story has been written by Vishal Bhardwaj. The actress was last seen in Woh Lamhe, starring serial kisser Emraan Hashmi, Shamita Shetty and the gorgeous Udita Goswami. She had a small role in that, of a character Rani. In fact, her role was small enough to make her be left out of the promos. But now the actress hopes to once again make a mark with this project. In an age, when small yet significant roles are being taken up by actors of all star status, not just to remain in the limelight, but to try and leave a stamp in whatever little manner they can, it should not bother Masumeh, earlier known as Masumi Makhija, just because she’ll be accompanied by a huge star cast. Though those movies didn’t work, she was seen scorching the screen with the likes of Suniel Shetty in Laloo Prasad Yadav, and with former model and Rupa Euro underwear hunk Zulfi Syed in Chupke Se.
Masumeh, is all praise for the director’s sensibilities though. She insists that the emotions in her part in the movie are very real, and true to life. Vishal Bhardwaj, whose career graph notched another high with his recent release, the kids’ movie Blue Umbrella, starring one of his favourite performers Pankaj Kapoor, has never shied away from doing unconventional work. He has been a writer, he has also been a music composer, and delivered some great tracks even in children’s movies. Remember ‘panga na le’ from Makdee? Is it any wonder then that he is so popular with kids these days! Moreover, he has proved his mettle in direction, by re-molding Shakespeare’s tales in a way like no other Indian director has dared to do before. Maqbool and Omkara; anyone who would have seen these two movies directed by Vishal Bhardwaj would surely believe that. And now, the man who loves taking risks has decided to be a part of a project which will have just a tenth of the film rolls, to his credit. Well, with Masumeh with him once again, we would love to see what he comes up with, this time, to actually know whether they can create the same magic again or not. We wish them all the best!
