Midnight’s Children is the novel that won Salman Rushdie the Booker Prize in the year 1981.it has also bon the Booker of Bookers award twice. The novel will now be adapted in a movie and Deepa Mehta who also happens to be a very good friend of Salman will direct the movie. Salman will be playing an active part in finalizing the caste of the movie and will also help Deepa in creating the sets and also help her in the way characters are to be portrayed in the movie.

Imran Khan who made a rocking debut with the movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is the front-runner and the most likely person to grab the role of the main protagonist. Salman who has had a talk with Deepa is quite happy with the choice of actor and he is looking forward to meeting Imran before he is finalized for the part of Saleem Sinai.

Imran will have do something with his nose though as he does not match the physical appearance of the nose of Saleem but that is something which can be worked upon. Deepa Mehta recently said that the popularity of Imran will only help the movie but he was shortlisted because the role suited him and that she thought he could carry it off pretty well.

Deepa has earlier worked with Imran’s uncle Aamir Khan in the movie Earth that was very well received by the critics. Aamir though had some issues in the way his character of communal Indian was received. Imran in the meanwhile is looking forward to the idea of working with a director like Deepa.
