Movie Review of Sunday

Rohit Shetty is back with an another comedy film Sunday after his previous successfull venture in comedy with Golmaal. Sunday is a type of a mysterious comedy film which begins with the murder of a girl in a park. Sunday should be seen mainly for its comedy mixture with suspense.

Sunday is a much different comedy flick in the sense that it is not a senseless comedy with just a string of gags. Infact the movie have a murder mystery involved in the story with the taste of comedy in it. The movie is a true masala one type which contains all the ingredients like action, romance and comedy in it.

The story of the film revolves around a bubbly girl, Sehar ( Ayesha Takia ) who is working as a dubbing artist in animation films. One night she went for discotheque with her friend Ritu ( Anjana Sukhani). There Sehar, teaches lessons to two guys who were trying to get along with them.

But from very next day, strange things started to happen with her. She has been asked for some unpaid taxi fare by a cabbie driver Ballu ( Arshad Warsi). And adding spice to it, a struggling actor, Kumar( Irrfan Khan) screams ‘bhoot’ every time he sees Sehar. The main problem with the girl is that she cannot remember about a particular Sunday in her life. The bubbly girl got trapped in a murder case without having any idea about what is happening to her and why?

Then comes the rescuer, a corrupt Inspector Rajveer ( Ajay Devgan ) with his haryanawi fellow Anwar ( Mukesh Tiwari). Both of them have a unique style of working on every case. Rajveer falls in love with Sehar but also knows that all the evidences are pointing towards her. The only solution seems is that Sehar would recall the things happened with her on sunday, the day after that discotheque night. From there on, the search for the missing sunday got started.

Talking about the performance, Irrfan is terrific once again in the role of a crazzy struggling actor. With his brilliant act he is surpassing everyone in the movie. Arshad Warsi is playing a clever cabbie this time and maintained his level of comedy yet again in the movie. Ayesha Takia is looking cute in her role. Ajay Devgan suits the role of corrupt cop very much. Mukesh Tiwari and Anjana Sukhani are just okay-okay.

The only weak point of the movie is it’s end. The director doesn’t care to explain audience that how Ajay find out the killer. Rohit just simply revealed about the killer. But apart from it, Sunday worths atleast one watch for it’s comedy and suspense mixture.
