Movie review of Victoria No. 203

Victoria No. 203‘ is a movie about the heist of some exquisite diamonds which are worth of more than 100 crores. This movie is actually a remake ( or a carbon copy) of the older VICTORIA NO. 203. The movie starts off with Bobby Bombata (Javed Jaffrey), a huge industrialist planning to steal those precious diamonds with the help of a cold blooded killer, Ranjeet (Kamal Sadanah). Bobby hires Tora (Tora Khasgir), a Ninja girl, to perform the diamonds robbery. But after getting diamonds in her hands, Tora tries to double cross Bobby and in the process she got killed by Ranjeet. But she managed to hide the diamonds in Victoria No. 203. Raman, owner of that victoria, got arrested by police in the charge of Tora’s murder. Two small time crooks Raja (Anupam Kher) and Rana (Om Puri) also starts to run behind the diamonds after hearing about the diamond heist. A diamond expert Jimmy (Jimmy Shergill), who is actually a ACP, is also in search of those exquisite diamonds. After Raman got arrested, her daughter Sara (Sonia Mehra) takes up the responsibility of home and her young sister. There is also a mischievies girl Devyani (Preeti Jhangyani) who is actually the girlfriend of Bobby.

This movie is much better to watch rather than Ramu’s AAG. Though the story of this movie is almost similar to the Original movie, it is still good to see. Music is given by Viju Shah in this movie. All the songs in the movie are just remixes of the older songs. Anupam Kher and Om Puri fails in creating the same type of magic in the famous song ‘Do Bechare’ like Pran and Ashok kumar did in the Original one.

Om Puri and Anupam Kher makes a great pair. Om Puri seems to be enjoying his part pretty well. They are infact excellent at some particular scenes. Javed Jaffrey carries off his role beautifully throughout the movie. Jimmy Shergill has not done anything exceptional in terms of acting. New face, Soniya Mehra, looks beautifull on screen but she also have short hands in acting. She has a long way to go before she can be called a complete actress. Kamal Sadanah performed well in the role of a killer. Preeti Jhangyani has portrayed her part effectively in the movie.

New avatar of Victoria No. 203 is not as promising as the original. But still this movie doesn’t bore you even for a minute. If the two remakes, both Ramu’s AAG and Victoria No. 203, are to be compared then Victoria No. 203 is much better.
