In the movie, Kurbaan the veteran actor Om Puri will be seen in a completely new avatar playing the mastermind of a terrorist group claiming to be on Jehaad. So strong is his belief in the cause that he is ready to give up anything even his wife if it helps in completion of the task. Now with the image that has been created around the world of terrorist the actor very well knew what he was getting himself into.

There can be instances where people at airports might take him to be a terrorist just because of the role. He however was aware of the repercussions of playing the role. He even received threat messages from some of the extremist organizations that he should go ahead and say no to the role. Despite the entire actor inside him did not allow him let go of a role like this.

Before the role was offered to, Irrfan Khan was approached to play the part but he turned it down not for the above-mentioned reasons because he said that he could never understand the working of what goes inside the head of a terrorist. Even if he could, he would not want to do it. However, this is not the first time that Om Puri has done a role like this.

This might be his first time playing a terrorist but he played a Muslim extremist in the movie Shoot At Sight. He has also played the role of a Pakistani in the movie War and East Is East. In his next movie Baburr he will be seen playing a corrupt police official very strongly believes that bending the rules to earn fast cash is not wrong.
