Onir who rose to fame after directing the movie My Brother Nikhil is planning to direct five short films and then release them as a single movie. In his earlier movie, he raised awareness about AIDS, how the people infected need help and support. These short films will also be having moral messages in them or be supporting a cause.

He has named three of the movie Abhimanyu, Omar and Afia. In the movie Abhimanyu, he will try to show the issue of child abuse whereas in the movie Onir he plans to rip apart the nexus that exists between the police and the gays. He will try to show how the police blackmail these people. The police officers change their stand on the issue of gay rights depending on their moods.

He will have to be very careful while handling the sensitive issues. He also wants the audiences to see the movies and not just the juries at various film festivals. There have been directors like Sanjay Gupta and Ram Gopal Varma who have made movies out of short films. Darna Mana Hai and Dus Kahaniyaan are the ones that come to mind. Both the movies did average business only.

In each of his short movies, Onir will be using an experienced actor along with a newcomer. You need established actors to bring the audiences to the theatres. It was during his visit to Berlin that he came up with ideas that have converted into this. He is currently working on the script for the remaining two movies and when he is finished with that he will start the shooting as soon as possible.
