Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has broken the previous records at box office and became the highest grossing movie both for Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Raj Films. The film has grossed Rs. 180 crores till now. The film was released on 12th December, 2008, just after the Mumbai terror strikes on November 26, 2008. The movie not only survived in that precarious time, but it also continued its unparallel run at the box office against all odds. Besides, the movie had to compete with Aamir Khan’s “Ghajini”, which had a record breaking opening. Despite this, the movie continued its successful run for 5 weeks and promises that this is going to continue.

In India, the first 5 weeks fetched “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” Rs. 83 crores net (i.e. nearly 140 crores gross collections).the previous highest grosser for Yash Raj Films was “Dhoom: 2”, which fetched Rs. 80.3 crores net during its total run in India. “Dhoom: 2” is also amongst the highest grossing movies of all times. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’s collections has surpassed the collections of last 2 years biggest hits, “Om Shanti Om” and “Singh is Kinng” and is only behind “Ghajini” in net collection of all time in India.

The entire gross collections of the movie in overseas is $8 Million i.e. nearly 40 crores which makes it 2008’s highest grossing film in the overseas market, ahead of both “Singh is Kinng” and “Ghajini”. Till now the movie has collected $2.1 Million gross in USA, $1.5 Million gross in UK and $2.25 Million in the Middle East. In Middle East “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” has become all time highest grossing film.
