Yesteryear bollywood family drama movie, Raja Aur Rank, directed by Kotaya Pratyagatma was released in the year 1968. The movie starred Sanjeev Kumar and Kumkum in lead roles while Aruna Irani, Tyagraj, Mohan Chhoti, Ajit, mukri, Mahesh Kothare, Nazima, Badri Prasad and Kamal Kapoor also played important characters in the film. The evergreen music of the movie was directed by the hit eveteran music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey, Usha Mangeshkar etc.

Raja ( Sanjeev Kumar ) is living a poor lifestyle in his palatial house alongwith his father, Hariram ( Ajit ), mother, Shanta ( Nirupa Roy ) and a sister named Sujata ( Nazima ). Hariram alias Haria is an alcoholic and he never pays attention towards his responisibilities towards his family. Haria forces Raja to beg so that he can fullfill his own needs through his earnings. Sujata seels his hand made toys in order to make her family’s living. Shanta and Sujata decides to make Raja educated and admits him in a school.

But when Haria learns about this, he beats up Raja badly and forbids him from going school again. Raja has a ahbit of becoming king while playing alongwith his friends. Haria is not happy with this and always beats him up for this. Problem arises when Rajs starts considering himself as the real king and refuse to accept any oder from anyone.
