To define the word religion is marked by great number of difficulties and many attempts have been made to define religion but all of them deals with only a very few aspects of religion and to limit religion only to few categories is to ignore its multifaceted nature and lose out on the complete definition. There is a hair line difference between religion and devotion where devotion is justified by saying that it is the act or state of religious zeal or idolatory. Religious and devotional songs generally called HYMNS have a very important role in laying out a strong edifice for the subsequent building of human character. A hymn is a type of song, usually religious/devotional, specifically written for the purpose of praise or prayer to gods or deity. Now what is a devotional song , it is nothing but a hymn which carries along with it religious acts and rituals

Of course Bollywood is known for its very own flamboyant style, dance sequences and all but what is fascinating is that even Our very own Bollywood hasn’t been spared by the influence of these songs/hymns and there is nothing wrong in saying that Bollywood has played a leading role in still keeping the meaning of religion and devotion alive amongst people in this fast becoming concrete jungle devoid of finer human feelings.

Some renowned songs under this category are:-
