Seems Aamir really wants this award

Hardly would you find Aamir Khan attending any Award ceremony or claiming his feat, unless it is of the stature of the Oscars. Well! Here’s a bit of surprise for you, as Aamir has expressed his wish to be included for the V. Shantaram Awards 2008. This Award ceremony is one of the prestigious ones within the nation, and has been a pedestal to acknowledge the feats of previous greats like that of Satyajit Ray, K Balachandra, Mani Ratnam and Shyam Benegal.

One can understand from the names that the Award is not just a piece of cake that any person could have for themselves. It has been organized in the memory of the late filmmaker, who believed that it was possible to continue making mainstream cinema and yet bring out certain social relevancy in them. It seems that Aamir’s Taare Zameen Par is the perfect answer to Shantaram’s wishes, like a beacon to depict exactly what he said in his own style.

The movie with a young protagonist has already booked several nomination categories and is looking good to challenge movies, like that of A Wednesday and Jodha Akbar from Bollywood itself. Among the several categories are the ones for best actor, best director, best supporting actor, best debut artiste in a lead role, best writer and also best music. It seems all that a filmmaker could possibly want to achieve from his film is being fulfilled through this Award.

Moreover, some of Aamir’s contemporaries like the King Khan, SRK and Aishwariya Rai of Bollywood have already been honored at this ceremony. No wonder, Aamir wants to establish his mark and be ranked with the elite league, which has been recognized by the Award earlier. May be it is high time that Aamir showed himself at an Award ceremony in over decades.
