Bollywood romantic drama movie, Shararat, directed by Manmohan Desai was released in the year 1972. The movie starred Biswajeet and Mumtaz in lead roles while Shatrughan Sinha, Durga Khote, Mehmood Jr., Faryal, Sujit Kumar and Raj Mehra also played important characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was given by the veteran music director Ganesh while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

Young and beautiful Meeta ( Mumtaz ) is living a wealthy lifestyle in her palatial house. She has a hobby of playing pranks or pratical jokes on others. Radha is one of her best friend and she used to share everything with her. One day Meeta comes to meet Radha and tells her that her marriage has been arranged with someone by her parents. Meeta asks Radha to visit the guy with whom her marriage has been arranged. Radha has to impersonate Meeta for this particular meeting. Radha agrees to do so and goes to meet Harry ( Biswajeet ), who is living a wealthy lifestyle alongwith his mother in their palatial house.

Radha soon wins the hearts of every family member of Harry’s family. Radha and harry falls in love with each other. Radha get shocked when she learns that Meeta’s father is going to visit there soon. Radha tries to contact Meeta but fails. She then decides to leave the house. Harry get shocked with Radha’s sudden disappearance and tries to locate her. He manage to locate her but get shocked when a guy named Vinod Kumar ( Shatrughan Sinha ) claims to be her husband.
