Whenever you think of Sharman Joshi as an actor, the image that you get is of a person who always makes the audiences smile when he comes up on screen. He is all set to get out of that comic avatar in his next movie Allah Ke Bande in which he is all set to play the gangster for the first time. The actor reiterated the fact saying that this will be first time that he is portraying a role like this. The only movie that comes close of his in terms of characterization is his debut movie Godmother.

The story revolves round a kid who is send to jail after he commits a small crime at a very tender age. The environment inside the cell changes him and he comes out a changed man. He said that he strives for variety in his role and goes by his instincts while selecting a movie and same was the case with this one. He said that as soon as Farukh Kabir gave him the narration he got on board for the movie.

Farukh has multiple roles as he was doing the direction, scripting, story and playing part in the movie all at the same time. Sharman said that Farukh always knew what he wanted and the movie has turned out perfectly as he got just what he wanted. He also said that it is not every day that you are offered scripts with such varied roles.

He has worked a lot to get the look right for the role. He even went to the jail for close 20 days to prepare for the role.
