The movie 1971 was a war and adventurous movie released on March 9, 2007 and was bannered under Studio 18 and Sagar Films. The movie was directed by Amrit Sagar and produced by Narinder Saini and Bimal Saini. The lead characters were played by Manoj Bajpai, Chittaranjan Giri, Ravi Kishan, Manav Kaul and Kumud Mishra while other roles were played by Piyush Mishra, Deepak Dobriyal, Deepti Gupta and Vivek Mishra. The music of the film has been directed by Akash Sagar and the songs were sung by Kailash Kher, Harshdeep Kaur and Shibani Kashyap.

The movie 1971 is a war movie based on the fight of 1971 and truly salutes the soldiers of the war. The story of the movie revolves around six Indian soldiers who have been prisoned by Pakistan. These soldiers are Suraj Singh ( Manoj Bajpai ), Subedar Ahmed ( Chitaranjan Giri ), Captain Kabir ( Kumud Mishro ), Captain Jacob ( Ravi Kishan ), Flight Lt. Ram ( Manav Kaul ) and Flight Lt. Gurtu ( Deepak Dobriyal ). Suraj Singh who belongs to the 18 Rajputana Rifles was prisoned when he got out of ammunition. He tried to escape but was punished severly.

Subedar Ahmed who came from a small town of Muslimabad worked in Suraj Singh’s regiment. Captain Kabir came from Pune and also served Suraj Singh loyally. He is the father of an eleven year old daughter. Captain Jacob, expert in topography, came from Cochin and is a married man. Flight Lt. Ram from Delhi worked for 21st Squadron MIG and was prisoned when he was shot down by an enemy. His best friend Flight Lt. Gurtu who came from Srinagar also worked for the same regiment. He was captured when Ram got captured. All the officers wished to escape from the prison and return to their nation.
