Bollywood romantic flick, Aa Gale Lag Jaa, directed by veteran filmmaker Manmohan Desai was released on November,6, 1973. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore in lead roles while Shatrughan Sinha, Om Prakash, Shuba khote, Master Titu, Roohi Berde, Sulochana Latkar, Jagdeep and Gajanan Jagirdar also played important roles in the movie. The superhit music of the film was given by none other than famous music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Sushma Shreshta etc. The movie did well at the box office and its songs are still remembered for their excellent composition.

The movie starts with young and handsome Prem ( Shashi Kapoor ) and beautiful Preeti ( Sharmila Tagore ). Preeti is a medical student while Prem is a poor illetrate guy. Prem meets with Preeti and instantly falls in love with her. He tries to woo Preeti but all his efforts goes in vain as Preeti is not interested in him at all. But after an accident, Preeti is taken by Prem in a cottege and there they both get physically involved with each other. After that incident, Preeti also falls for Prem and they both plans to get married with each other.

But Preeti’s father, Seth Hira Chand ( Om Prakash ) is opposite of this marraige and plays a dirty game proving Prem a wrong guy in the eyes of Preeti. Heartbroken Prem returns to his home. Then one day, Prem learns that Preeti is pregnant and is been admitted in a hospital. Hira Chand wants to send the new born baby to an orphanage but prem request him to give that child to him. He also made promise to Hira chand that he will never come again in the life of Preeti. But destiny once again makes the two x-lovers meet in the future and in the total different circumstances.
