Bollywood action thriller, Aaghaaz, directed by Yogesh Ishwar was released on October 6,2000. The movie starred Suniel Shetty and Namrata Shirodkar in lead roles while Sushmita Sen, Shraddha Nigam, Akshay Anand, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharat Saxena, Suman Rangnathan, Alok Nath, Govind Namdev, Johnny Lever, Gulshan Grover, Asrani, Sudhir Dalvi, Anupam Kher and Sharad Kapoor also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by Anu Malik and the songs were rendered by Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu, Babul Supriyo, Alka Yagnik, Hema Sardesai and Sunidhi Chauhan. The movie did average business at the box office.

The movie starts with Govind Narang ( Suniel Shetty ), who is a man with a golden heart and with love and care for everyone. He is in love with a beautiful women named Sudha ( Sushmita Sen ). But due to some negative circumstances, he is forced to marry Pushpa ( Suman Rangnathan ). Pushpa is poisoned by her brother and she dies. After her death, Govind decides to leave the village alongwith her younger sister, Ratna ( Shraddha Nigam ). They arrives Bombay and starts living at Azad Nagar. But the place is living under the terror of Johnny ( Sharat Saxena ) and his brother Danny ( Mukesh Tiwari ).

Govind fights with Danny and beats him badly when he tries to molest a women in public. Johnny seeks revenge from Govind but he also faces the same humiliation like Danny and beated badly by Govind in front of public. Johnny then calls two other gangster, Sadanan Kutty ( Gulshan Grover ) and Khan ( Govind Namdev ). They all plans to entrap Govind and in this they take help of a corrupt social worker, Ram Sevak ( Alok Nath ). Govind is brutally beated by all of them and his younger sister is also raped in front of him. Now will he take revenge from Johnny and his companions or will leave from the city?
