Bollywood movie, Aakhri Raasta, written and directed by K. Bhagyaraja was released on June 2, 1986. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi in lead roles while Jayaprada, Om Shivpuri, Anupam Kher, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Dalip Tahil, Gurbachan Singh, Viju Khote and Bharat Kapoor also played important roles in the film. The melodious music of the movie was given by well knwon music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Mohammed Aziz, Lata Mangeshkar, S. Janki etc. The movie did well at the box office and Amitabh Bachchan also won rave reveiws for his excellent dual act in the film.

The movie starts with David D’Costa ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who is living a poor lifestyle in Bombay city. He get married with Mary ( Jayaprada ) and soon she becomes pregnant. Mary gives birth to a child and names him James. David introduces Mary to his friend, Mahesh Sandaliya ( Anupam Kher ) and the one who he worships, minister Chaturvedi ( Sadashiv Amrapurkar ). Suddenly one day, David is arrested by police for some unknown reasons. Mahesh gives his bail and they both returns to David’s home. But David get shocked after entering his home as he learns that Mary has committed suicide. David sees a note written by Mary in which she has written that Chaturvedi did rape with her and therefore she don‘t want to live anymore now.

Angry David tries to kill Chaturvedi but is arrested by police and is framed in the case of Mary’s murder. David is sentenced to prison for twenty long years. He requests Mahesh to look after his son, James. He wants his son to be a criminal. But when he get discharged from the jail and visits Mahesh’s home, he learns that Mahesh is a changed person now and James or Vijay ( Amitabh Bachchan ) is now a police inspector. David get shocked to this but somehow controls himself. He decides to get the revenege from all the people involved in Mary’s murder on his own. But to utter shock his own son, Vijay, stands between him and his revenege.
