Bollywood action crime thriller, Aakrosh: Cyclone of Anger, directed by Lateef Binny and written by Jalees Sherwani was released on April 3, 1998. The movie starred Sunil Shetty and Shilpa Shetty in lead roles while navin Nischol, Mohan Joshi, Girish Karnad, Johnny Lever, Suresh Oberoi, Ranjeet and Anajan Mumtaz also played important roles in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the very famous music director Anand Raj Anand while the songs were crooned by Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik etc.

Anjali ( Anjana Mumtaz ) get married to Dr. Malhotra ( Navin Nischol ) after getting divorce from her husband, Mahendra Pratap Gujral ( Suresh Oberoi ). She left Mahendra because of his illigal activities. She then gives birth to a child and names him De. years later, dev ( Sunil Shetty ) is now a honest and dedicated police officer. He meets with a beautiful girl named Komal ( Shilpa Shetty ), who has just joined as his collegue in the police station. Dev and Komal falls in love with each other and decides to get married soon.

Dev and Komal is then assigned the case of Mahendra Pratap Gujral. Dev then come across a guy named Suraj Singh and soon reveals that he is actually Mahendra. Mahendra also learsn that Dev is the son of Anjali and therefore decides to play with his emotions. Mahendra manage to convince him that he became a criminal only because of a politician named Rajvansh Shashtri ( Girish Karnad ).
